<span class="text Ps-116-17" id="en-TLB-13679">I like this verse a lot because of its reference to thanksgiving being a sacrifice. I like it because sometimes it is not easy to be thankful. Yes, we always have something to thank and worship God for, but life is not always easy. </span><span class="text Ps-116-17" id="en-TLB-13679">Often it can be easier to see the world around us, falling apart and going wrong, rather than what God has done for us. However, no matter how bad it seems at the time, we should be making a point to come to God with thankful hearts. If you are reading this now, I can promise you that you are blessed! We have much to be thankful for. So when times are hard and you have to make that "sacrifice," just remember God knows and you've never left his mind!</span><br />

On a pretty regular basis my husband tells me of dreams he has. I am almost positive that God gives these to him to tell hm something. I know that there are times in my own life that God has used my dreams to tell me things.<br />

As a blogger for Family Christian I get a chance to listen to many artists and CDs. I recently got "The Dream" by Sanctus Real. I wont lie, I really like the eclectic mix of this CD. There were several songs on here that were so fun. There were also several that were just ok, but a great CD overall. The song "Easier on My Heart" has a fun "80's" sound that I really like.It kind of reminds me of what the sound track of a dream might be. I am not sure if that is the reason behind the name, but it works for me! I received this album for reviewing purposes and was pleasantly surprised. I am a big fan of Christian music, but I am terrible with keeping up with band names. Before it arrived, Rend Collective had never really crossed my radar. It just wasn't one of those bands that stood out to me. However, its now become one of my family's music staples. In fact, my husband gladly "stole" the CD for his car. It has a unique sound and uplifting and encouraging lyrics. The sound is a mix of Irish folk, pop, and rock.<br />
My husband has been the primary listener of this CD since it arrived. He truly feels like it has brought him closer to God and helped him go through some rough days. His favorite song is "Boldly I Approach Your Throne." Although the CD is not specified as just worship, it has definitely got the feel through out it. "My Lighthouse" is my favorite on the whole CD. It makes a perfect playlist for heading to work or running errands! I would highly recommend it.<br />

This verse is my son's Scripture verse of the week. I've read it everyday since last Wednesday. However, today after I read it and went to get ready for bed, God spoke to me about myself. I have always been involved in the <a href="http://casseruoladolcedellavita.blogspot.com/2014/08/why-i-am-losing-weight-even-though-i-am.html">Body Love Movement</a>. I have a respect for who God made me to be. However, I never really SAW what I believed. I was a fake until you make it kind of person. I acted like I loved what I saw, but I didn't always feel it on the inside. <br />

Today when I looked in the mirror, I saw that I was wonderfully made. I didn't look at my flaws or weird marks, I saw what God sees. I saw a woman, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. I saw someone God made perfectly.<br />

There can be no more perfect me. There is no such thing as a perfect person, so what reason would I have to wish and hope for that. However, each person is the only version of themselves, and that is amazing!<br />

So, I cant say that I still love every aspect of me, but today I looked in the mirror and what I saw was BEAUTIFUL. Recently my husband lost his job and my family is having to lean heavily on these words. When God first brought these verses to my mind, I was frustrated because I was seeing them incorrectly. In my head I read the verses as saying that God takes care of those things, so he will take care if us. However, I realize (just as Matthew did), that flowers are quickly withered, stepped on, or killed by frost. I compared myself to that flower. Something to just be withered and tossed away, but that is not at all what these verses say.</span></span><br />

<span class="text Matt-6-34" id="en-NIV-23317"><span class="woj">If you truly read the words, you will find that Matthew is not comparing us those things, just pointing out that they have no need to worry. Even without worrying they are beautiful, whether their life be short or long, they fulfill their purpose and lose nothing to worry. As God's people, we are given the great gift to have that same kind of freedom. Worry will add nothing to the situation but frustration and pain. Whether our time in struggle is long or short lived, will we not make it until tomorrow if God's will is for us to?</span></span><br />

If we are living for him and doing as he desires, he will be sure to provide those needs. Its not to say that life will get easier, or that you wont feel the sting of going without... its that each day has enough of its own problems to let those things infect every aspect of your life.</span></span><br />

I realize it has been some time since I have posted, and I intend to change that. Over the past few weeks I have unimaginable things going on. Without the Holy Spirit there is no way I could have made it through so far.<br />

I was so excited when<a href="http://www.familychristian.com/catalog/product/view/id/294191"> Family Christian Stores</a> offered me the chance to review the movie, "<a href="http://www.familychristian.com/catalog/product/view/id/294191">Holy Spirit</a>". I was given this DVD for reviewing purposes, but I enjoyed it.<br />
<br />
At the very beginning of this movie I found it unusual and I started to shrug it off. However, once I began to get into it, I really found it to be an interesting and eye opening documentary. I loved how it followed the work of The Spirit through both the spiritual and secular world. It was also beneficial to hear the thoughts and words of all sorts of people. They interview musicians, actors, pastors, and normal people. You get a glimpse of God's hand at work all over the world. If your interested in just seeing how the Spirit can move people and change lives, this is an interesting watch. It is fairly fast paced and doesn't leave you feeling bored.<br />

<span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-19-14">Ah, this is the verse. The nagging wife verse. I am loving the fact the Internet provides easy access to commentaries. I like to see what people have gleaned from the verse as well. I also make sure to look up words that are not regularly used as well. One of the commentaries I was reading was talking about that the only two truly important temporary comforts are good children and a good wife. However, the opposite really lends to a pretty sticky life. Google defines quarrelsome as "</span></span><span>given to or characterized by quarreling" Basically, argumentative and naggy. This is probably the most common complaint I've ever heard from husbands about their wives. This is interesting because the Bible points out how opposite that should be. Like a leaky roof, its annoying and eventually it can damage everything else in the home. This is where the next verse comes in.</span><span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-19-14"> Google defines prudent as "</span></span><span>acting with or showing care and thought for the future." If you are considering the future and acting in a caring manner, would you still be complain or arguing about that topic? Is it important in the long run? Is it work the long term effects of the constant nagging. This is an area that would require great self control on my part as a wife. My first reaction is to complain, nag, and fuss over what I see. I rarely take the time to think over the level of importance or how my behavior is affecting my family.</span></div>

<span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-5-19">Interestingly enough, these scriptures are speaking to the man about being faithful, however I read in it something for wives as well. I can take from these verses several things a wife should (or shouldn't be). In fact, if you read all of Proverbs 5 you can get a very clear picture of what a godly wife SHOULDN'T be. Today I really want to focus on these verses though because they talk specifically about being a wife.</span></span><br />
<span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-5-19"><br /></span></span>
<span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-5-19">Verse 15 refers to this man's wife as a "cistern" or a container or well of water. The is very symbolic in several ways. One, it refers to the nature of giving. The words "running," "springs," and "streams" all refer to something that continues to flow. As a godly wife we give of ourselves, our love, our support, and life freely and without reserve for our husband and family. Taking my mother as an example, I am convinced that this is an ability that is truly God given for wives. It's one of the ways God enables us to perform our role as wife. Although this is a gift given by God, it can also be a challenge. Giving with a return can be tiring and draining. It is hard not to be bitter at times when I don't see any return from my giving, however it is important to remember we do it more for God than we do our husband. (It makes the burden lighter)</span></span><br />
<span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-5-19"><br /></span></span>
<span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-5-19">In verse 18 the writer speaks of rejoicing in the "wife of your youth" and verse 19 uses the words "always" and "may you ever," all references to a happy and fulfilling marriage from beginning to end. As a wife I can gleam both encouragement and a reminder from these verses. It is encouraging to know that if I am married to a godly man he will strive to always see and treat me in love. He will never lose his passion for me because he will make it a goal to pursue that passion. However, the reminder I get is that I should remember the things that made my husband fall in love with me in his "youth" and strive to provoke the same feelings in my husband today and always. Yes, it is a blessed burden on the man to stay faithful and passionate about his wife, but it is the wife's role to create an atmosphere that he can do so.</span></span><br />
<span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-5-19"><br /></span></span>
<span class="indent-1"><span class="text Prov-5-19">The last verse I noted above talks pretty blatantly about sex. I can not simply ignore the fact. I find a reminder in that too. I am aware that my body may not be the same as it was the day we married, but as a wife I see a purpose in making effort on staying beautiful for my spouse. This is not necessarily doing something more or different than you already do, however I can see changes in myself since the early days. Early on I was careful wit personal up-keep. Nails, hair, shaving, beauty rituals were all important because I wanted to look beautiful and make my man feel special. As time goes by and comfort sets in, I find those things happen less often. I don't particularly think that is a good thing. I strive to find a balance in accepting who God made me to be and striving for beauty. There is something really cool about being the wife of a Christian, God fearing man; we are meant to be a blessing to them! We are a precious and priceless gift. These verses also note our importance as mother, however I don't really think that was the whole truth of this scripture. As I was studying these vereses I found a great quote in a commentary about them, "good wives are also fruitful in kindness, thrift, helpfulness, and
affection: if they bear no children, they are by no means barren if they
yield us the wine of consolation and the clusters of comfort. Truly
blessed is the man whose wife is fruitful in those good works which are
suitable to her near and dear position."- <a href="http://www.biblestudytools.com/commentaries/treasury-of-david/psalms-128-3.html">The Treasury of David Commentary</a> I really like how this commentary expands on the word "fruitful". First, it talks about the kings view of his bride. To him there is no one more beautiful or desirable. Husbands are given the expectation of having and creating that kind of desire for his wife. It also says that he enjoys and desires to care for and in some ways spoil his wife. I would consider jewelry, clothing, and a nice house to be "spoils". </span></span></div>

In some ways, God says I can have it both ways. In Proverbs 12:4 it says that a wife with noble character is her husband's "crown". Basically, there are some conditions to being a "trophy wife". I think I would rather be this kind of trophy wife anyway!</span></span></div>

This is even more important after you are married. Self disciple can be more challenging. It can be easier to place blame, procrastinate, or give up on things. Those things don't encourage much when it comes to marriage. I would "stupid" to know my problems and issues and choose to ignore them rather than strive for excellence. (For this reason I love self-help and motivational books!)</span></span></div>

They seek to bless others. In marriage that means choosing to bless my husband. That means doing things that make HIM feel special, important, and desired. By doing so, it makes me all that more desirable to him. I become a "crown" by shining him up to look and feel like royalty!</span></span></div>

<span class="btext1">My husband and I are nearing our fifth anniversary. As time goes by, I realize that I regularly fail at being the one thing I desperately want to be, a godly wife. Many times I have looked over the verses in Proverbs 31 and longed to be like that woman. Yet, every attempt I've made has fizzled out. I am beginning to understand the reason why now. First, my attitude was never really in the right place. I wanted to be that woman for personal gain, not truly for God or my husband. Second, I was trying to do it in my own power. Neither will get me the point God wants me to be. I really hope I have my learned my lessons now and am going to have a true heart change. I also decided I needed to look deeper in The Word to find what I am looking for. Over the next few weeks (months, years, who knows?!), I plan on walking my way through the Bible and seeing what God says about being a wife.</span><br />

Not only because I love him, but because I love God and that is what He really wants from me. My marriage was (and is) an gift and I do not take it for granted.</span><br />

<span class="btext1">Now, today's verses are from Genesis and the creation of woman. Right here we get an understanding of purpose for a woman in marriage. So, let me give you the Manda translation. Adam just finished doing a truck load of work, naming the animals and all. He is all alone and after going through every living thing, he still can't find anyone who "understands" him. He's lonely and tired. God takes notice and let's Adam take a nap. While he is napping He pulls out of Adam a part of his heart (chest, rib) and creates woman. </span><br />

<span class="btext1">Considering where God chose to take from Adam to make Eve, it is clear that from the start Adam had great respect and love for her. She was a very special gift from God, created from something so close to his heart. In truth, a wife is just another part of the man she marries. We are truly made to fulfill, complete, and become one with the man we marry. This is no easy task. Since there is no perfect person, marriage is two imperfect puzzle pieces attempting to make a clear picture. Truly I think the heaviest weight of this burden is on the woman, our whole roles is to make a complete picture. We have to CHOOSE to make our puzzle fit together. </span><br />

<span class="btext1">My conclusion: I need to be those things. My husband is a dreamer. It is a beautiful thing, but sometimes off the wall thing. It is my job to keep our life realistic and grounded without crushing his zeal. My husband can only handle one major role at a time. I have to accept this and cover what he is not. If his major role is bread winner than mine will be home. If his is home, I will work to support. If my husbands roll is minister to others than I will minister to him. What ever it is that he needs, I will try my best to be there for him. He may have high expectations for our children so I will support my children as they build to that point. I know it is not popular or fun to consider your spouses flaws, but I am suggesting you rethink them. They are no longer flaws but aspects for which you were made to complete him. I really hope I can live up to this! I struggle more trying to change him than changing myself to better fit with him.</span><br />

<span class="btext1">The very last sentence in this verse also spoke to me. Adam and Eve we both naked. They were not hiding anything. They were not ashamed of who they are on their own. There is freedom and joy in understanding that you were made quite the way God intended. That means physically, mentally, emotionally, you were made to fit each other. You should have little doubt of your great worth (whether male or female). If you are in this marriage, there is no more beautiful or perfect fit for your spouse!</span><br />

Its been so crazy! Every time I have something awesome to share I get distracted, puked on, or fall asleep. That is life with kids! Anyway, Ive been wanting to share a little bit about some of the things I've learned traveling abroad. Hopefully you will find these helpful. Whether you are traveling for missions or pleasure, this tips are for you!<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li> Minors traveling without a parent will need a written and signed document stating who is their guardian during the trip and contact information. Don't ask me how I know this, I just do. :-)</li>
<li>Don't bring anything you will be heartbroken if it goes MIA. This one was hardest for me. I hated leaving my engagement ring when I did my 3 month long internship in South Africa.</li>
<li>Bring a basic medicine kit. Tums, Tylenol, ibuprofen, allergy, etc.</li>
<li>While your at it, bring band-aids.</li>
<li>Only bring broken in, comfortable shoes. I've broken this rule many times, it was bad.</li>
<li>Take a chew-able or pill form pepto-bismol every morning while on the trip. It reduces stomach irritation from water and unusual and new foods. </li>
<li>Try as much as you can! Food, culture, play, take advantage of the great blessing of seeing the world.</li>
<li>Pack a small bottle of shampoo, deodorant, and extra underwear in your carry on. If they lose you luggage you'll be happy you did. It is also great for freshing up when you have long flights and layovers.</li>
<li>Ask to keep the soda can in flight. They will give you a third of the can in a cup if your lucky, just ask.</li>
<li>When buying souvenirs, see if the country has something equivalent to our dollar stores. Can't get much more affordable and still get cool little things. When I went to Japan they had 100 yen stores. I got chop sticks, fans, and hair accessories! </li>
<li>In less built up countries, local markets are the way to go. However it is important to bring someone who speaks the language if you dont. You will surely be taken advantage of.</li>
<li>Bring home something unique. You'll always have a way to share your story.</li>
<li>Bring a journal and or a camera. You will surely want to share about your adventures.</li>
<li>Send postcards. Even if you stay only a week or too. Its so much fun to write and send them. Plus, if you send an extra one to yourself, it will go well in a scrapbook!</li>
<li>Learn about the countries and what they consider good manners. Ask someone before you go. It will save you embarrassment. </li>

Sounds pretty horrible to be "pressed on every side", "perplexed", "persecuted", and "struck down". In fact, if you just look at the life described before the "but", you would miss the point. No matter how crazy, tough, and painful things around may seem, God never allows them to completely over take us. My study Bible puts it this way "[a]ll our risks, humiliations, and trails are opportunities for Christ to demonstrate his power and presence in and through us."<br />

So the question really is, "How many opportunities for Christ are in your life?"<br />

I included both scripture verses today because I find it interesting how often verse 13 is quoted out of context.When Paul speaks of being able to do all things, he is talking about being content in all situations. Personally it is not always easy to be content. Sometimes things are NOT working out the way I want, but God made it clear that it is possible. I took a moment today to look up the definition of content. The first way it was defined was as "satisfied". The second way it was defined is<span class="ssens"> "to appease the desires of</span><span class="ssens"><strong></strong>"or "to limit (oneself) in requirements, desires, or actions". </span><br />

This seems to be a reoccurring theme in my life. Through devotions, church, and study I see something that God is desperately trying to get through to me. Pastor gave a treasure trove of scriptures to help guide me in this study. For this reason I have to choose one and work my way through life of Paul. <br />

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.- Philippians 4:11<br />

It was interesting to note that Pastor said contentment was a discipline that must be learned. Am I ready to learn it?<br />

Staying connected to the Father keeps our loves from becoming simply a routine without purpose. Without this connection to Christ, we forget who we serve. We can forget why we serve. Nothing will come of the things we do in our power. Only what is fed by the Vine will get what it needs to grow and bare fruit!<br />

I find this especially important as I go back to work for the school year. I often time feel like I do more than I get credit for, yet I am constantly reminded by God that all that matters is His thought on the matter. In time, God has allowed the things I have done to bless me. I've gotten everything from great friends to superior recommendation letters from giving my all to everything I do.<br />
<br />
The second part of the scripture is also important for me as things start a new again. With things still looking dim around me, its a comfort to know that God truly cares for me. He has the whole situation in His hands. I have no reason to stress and be anxious over it. Its hard not to be, I am regularly guilty of letting things run through my mind endlessly at night, or losing my temper over what we "lack". With God's help I am able to stand up and try to imagine it though His eyes. I read somewhere (although I can remember where now) that "we have a point of view but God has the view."<br />

Prayer of the Day: Lord, help me to see my life through your eyes. Although its hard to see the past good in difficult times, it is an important gift God gives us. When things are not where we think they ought to be, remembering God's faithfulness to us in the past should strengthen us and give us hope. God doesn't take care of us one moment just to drop us the next! It is a testing of our faith to make a point to see the things God has done, rather than focus on what we see on the now.<br />

First I must confess, we were not always faithful givers. We wanted to be, we used to be, but when times got hard, we just let that slip away. As things more challenging and even on good months there wasn't enough, we knew we had to make a change. About three months ago the hubby and I decided to give tithe on our dependable (my) income. The first month surprised us. From the time we gave, we kept getting blessed. Our needs were met, many wants were granted... it was amazing. This past month we decided to give on estimated total income. Do you know what happened? We were blessed again. I'm not saying its a magic formula, but it something God truly allows us to test Him on. He said give, we (finally) didn't question Him, and He amazed us! Now that we understand this, I wished we never stopped it in the first place. Perhaps we wouldn't be where we are today if we had. However, I believe in redemption and I know He can bring us back to the place where we were, likely better!<br />

I really like this verse, it is a great reminder to be thankful and give God glory when all is going well. Often we pray hard and are attentive during times of need, but are less involved in our relationship with Christ when things are going smoothly. I strive to be like Paul and be thankful and content and give God praise no matter my situation!<br />
